Mahón, Menorca (A reminder of home)

Friday 12th September – Mahón, Menorca (A reminder of home…) 39:53.543N 4:16.329E
A few things in Menorca have reminded us of home: the scenery at Fornells, the gin, the people we have met.
Today it was the turn of the weather which has arrived with a vengeance. It’s a good job that we like Mahón because it looks like our plans to move on are going to be thwarted for a while. The fresh easterlies have given way to a Mistral/ Tramontana for the next few days.
This morning we had thunder, lightning, hail, torrential rain and gale force winds in the harbour. When the worst squall went through we could barely see the yacht on the buoy next to us let alone Mahón L. The wind reached 42 knots (F9) and in 15 minutes the pressure went from 1004 to 1010 mbar.
This afternoon the rain has stopped, the wind has eased (a bit) and the sun has come out but more strong wind is expected over the next couple of days L
