Cagliari (Back in the Water)

Tuesday 31st March – Cagliari (Back in the Water) 39:12.064N 9:07.510E
This morning the weather was fine after some heavy rain overnight. Mid-morning the boatyard crew arrived to put us into the low-loader and lift us clear of the chocks so that we could scrape and anti-foul the patches where she had been sitting on the cradle and also paint the underside of the keel.
Richard scraped the patches and gave them a couple of coats of paint just as a few light rain showers arrived. We managed to get everything ready just before lunch but then a squall arrived and the heavens really opened for a while, getting everything soaked. Clearly we were not going into the water whilst this was happening so we went onto Pyxis and had lunch.
Mid-afternoon the weather then cleared and Pyxis was carried on the low-loader down to the crane. We were swiftly and efficiently transferred to the slings and across to the water where we were soon launched; we were very impressed with the care with which everything was done. Again we had an audience waiting to see us in.
As we motored around to the marina we passed Jurgen and Monica on Nereus on their way around to the harbour wall to be hoisted out in our place. We were then able to wave goodbye to Lynn and Lon on Mascot3 who were just leaving the marina, heading off to Tunisia with their friends.
Berthing went fine with a welcoming committee to catch our lines. Once tied off we went to watch Nereus lift out and then went back into the boatyard to collect our ladders and paint pots.
With a fine sunny evening we were joined aboard Pyxis by Cape, Wandering Dragon, Gary and Gert for a sundowner to welcome her back into the water.
After dinner we popped up to the gazebo and bumped into our neighbours from the boatyard, Preben and Delores with their new neighbours Monica and Jurgen. We headed back to Pyxis late…
