Friday 27th July – Plymouth - Fowey

We escaped from Plymouth around 10.30 this morning as the weather eased slightly and we needed a change of scenery.  There was a heavy swell around Penlee Point as we left Plymouth causing us to go further offshore but it decreased after the point and we had a reasonable sail in a moderate swell with wind Force 4-5 all the way to Fowey.

We arrived mid-afternoon and have finally met up here with our friends Irene, Claire and Bob on Sea Dream who are on their way back from the Isles of Scilly.  We are now moored up on either side of a pontoon at Pont Pill.

Unfortunately, on arrival, it started raining and then drizzled during the rest of the afternoon.

Tonight we went into town via water taxi to eat at a local pub - Richard had the Steak & Guinness pie so there’s no longer the need for the offer of the ‘Red Cross’ parcel of steak and chips – thanks.

We came home to a tranquil setting of Fowey at dusk.  The weather is due to be fine tomorrow before the wind builds again tomorrow evening; we hope for a quiet night’s sleep at last.
