Last night our new American neighbours came back to their yacht after a ‘night on the town’ at 4.30am, discussing whether or not to let their lines go and leave immediately rather than wait until morning. They debated this very loudly for about an hour before the remaining idiot gave way to reason and they went to bed. Finally we were able to go back to sleep as we had been ready to fend off if they decided on an ill-advised departure.
We slept quite well despite the heat overnight and were up late; we have had a day of rest after our travelling. It is over 36°C today with no breeze, we are keeping down in the saloon out of the sun where it is marginally cooler and our small fan is stirring the air a bit.
This afternoon we have been rigging the boat to help deal with the high temperatures, putting the awning across the boom, and reflective foil on the hatches.
This evening a 52m (170ft) megayacht ‘Tamsen’ has squeezed in just along the harbour wall from us.
