Vi utforsket St. Kitts og lå i marinaen en natt.
Resultatet var en sverm av mygg som gjorde livet skikkelig trasig. Per Arne fikk
mest stikk så neste natt låg vi utenfor marinaen på anker. Vi leide taxi som
kjørte oss rundt på øya i to timer. Hadde bl.a. lunch på en lokal rest. på den
lokale stranda (har ikke sett så mange fluer på en gang). St. Kitts var
ikke den øya vi reiser tilbake til. Veldig fattigslig og "rotete".
Neste dag fortsatte vi til St. Barth. Denne øya var
en liten stund svensk og hovedstaden heter Gustavia etter svenskekongen Gustav
III. Den ble solgt til Frankrike i 1877.
En trivelig øy som har svensk og fransk navn på
hovedgata. Mye svell i havna så det ble mye slingring de to dagene vi lå der,
selv om vi lå fortøyd i marinaen. Her holder "storkarene" til og butikkene
var smekkfulle av lekre klær og smykker og de beste frankse
merkene!
Vi reiste derfra og til St. Marteen, en distanse på
18 nm.
Her har vi fått plass i en veldig bra marina som ligger ikke i en stor lagune. Broen
åpnes 3 ganger per dag så båtene kan komme inn og ut.Øya er delt i to deler, en
nederlandsk og en fransk. Vi ligger på nederlands side og det er
veldig fint her.
Kapteinens bursdag ble feiret med god middag på
byens mest populære rest. med levende musikk. Han sender herved mange takk for
alle SMS og mailer.
I dag har vi leiet taxi som har kjørt oss rundt
øya. En trivelig sjåfør som også var en god guide.
Det er veldig varmt- 33-34 gr på dagen. Det
er også veldig varmt om natta, selv om ve har vifter i hver kabin og i
salongen.Vi tar derfor livet med ro og har ingen store gjøremål på gang denne
uken, annet enn en shopping tur til Phillipsburg i morgen (tror vi
damene)...
We came to St. Kitts and stayed in the marina one
night. The result was so many mosquitoes and so many bites that Per Arne looked
like a map over Europe. We escaped to the woe and anchored there with a little
more breeze. Next day we hired a taxi to take us around the island. We had lunch
at a lokal resaurant on the beach, with company of a couple of hundreds
flies.
We don't think we will not go to St.Kitts again.
Lots of poverty.
Next day we sailed to St. Barth. This island once
belonged to Sweeden and the capital's name is Gustavia, named after the Sweedish
King Gustav III. The island was sold to France in 1877.
This island was nice and the main street had both
Sweedish and French name.
The marina in the harbour had so much swell and it
was not very comfortably to stay there. Anyway, this is the island for the rich,
and I mean reeally rich people and the shops were full of fashion clothings and
jewellery. And very, very posh villas!!
We left for St. Marteen the next day, a distance of
18 NM.
Here we are in a really nice marina, which is in a
big lagune. There's a bridge that opens three times a day. This island is
devided in two, one Dutch side and the other is French. We are on the Dutch side
and find it nice and safe here.
The Captain,s birthday was celebrated with a good
dinner at the most populare rest. on this side of the island. There were
two men playing guitar and the food was excellent. The Captain sends his thanks
to all SMS and e-mails.
To day we hired a taxi to show us around this both
parts of the island. A very nice driver, who also was a good guide.
The temp. is really high- 32 to 34 +C during the
day. Quite warm at nitgh as well, even if we have a fan in each cabin and the
saloon.
That's why we are taking life easy and are as laid
back as the people here. No big plans for the next few days, other than having a
shopping tour to Phillipsburg (the capital) tomorrow, the ladies
think.....
