Crossing Biscay (Day 2)

Another uneventful day....... Saw lots of dolphins but they didn’t come to play.  Thought we saw a whale, but can’t be sure.

 

Glassy clam all day – hard to believe it can be so calm.  Even harder to comprehend that the bottom of the sea is 4.5km down!!

 

The calm conditions gave Alan a chance to practice his traditional navigation techniques and out came the sextant.  However he’s still to work out whether we’re in the northern or southern hemisphere!  It seems like an awful lot more hassle than looking at the chart plotter, but he assures me it’s all fun!

 

Mary got stuck into her book, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, so was happy.

 

The wind has been variable but has inevitably found its way to the south and is of course now on the nose!

 

We hope to arrive at Gijon mid morning on Monday.
