Tuesday 28th & Wednesday 29th September 2010

We left Combarro marina yesterday and promised Lamin the mariniero that we would recommend it to all our friends!

We then had a short 3 hour motor sail with very little wind and clear blue skies to the Islas Cies where we anchored off the main beach.  They are absolutely beautiful and certainly live up to their reputation as having one of the best beaches in the world.  (Photos to follow when we get wi-fi).  We took the dinghy ashore and strolled along the beach before heading back for a romantic evening on the boat.

There were a couple of ferries which left by about 6pm after which the island was deserted other than 4 other yachts.

We’re not sure if yesterday was the end of the season or they don’t run on Wednesdays but today there were no ferries so we had the island to ourselves.  We did a couple of the marked trails around the island but then decided to head back as the weather started to close in.  We motored in the murk up Ria de Vigo past the relatively large city of Vigo with lots of ship yards and marinas and are now settled in a quiet anchorage up river at Ensenada de San Simon.  Not remarkable but very sheltered.
