Tamar River and Pentillie Castle
50:29.602n 04:12.307w Well the weather didn’t improve much more today and a low
mist hung over us all day. We decided this would not make great
conditions for Fowey fireworks so instead had a leisurely cruise up the
Tamar river past Alan’s home town of Saltash and on up to Pentillie
Castle where we got married last year. Just as we were passing the boat
house Sammie the owner of Pentillie appeared and we told her of our plans.
We then ventured further up river to Calstock following the route of our
wedding boat trip which was lovely. Pentillie Castle &

Passing under Calstock viaduct We had contemplated anchoring in Dandy Hole but as the
visibility reduced to a few feet decided to play safe and are now snugly
anchored in Barn Pool at the mouth of the Tamar in Plymouth Sound. Passing Pentillie
