Another lovely sunny day as we left Pornichet to sail another 30 miles south to Ile d’Yeu.  Now we have turned south rather than south east the wind has of course turned to the north so we had it right behind us all day.  At around 10 knots we were only making 2-3 knots with the main and MPG so unfortunately had to motor sail.  With the apparent wind so light it was really hot and we had to use our bimini for the first time (other than as a rain shelter).

Alan thought the lack of wind was a bit dull so spent the day mending ropes and varnishing the cap rail.  Mary thought it was great as for the first time she could read a book and sunbathe as we sailed (motored) along.

Ile d’Yeu looked lovely in the sunshine and we had the most spectacular sunset.  (see below)

Chatting to the couple next door one worrying bit of news is that La Rochelle is still closed to visitors following the damage done to the marinas in the big storm in February.  We were planning to spend a few days there before heading to Spain so will have to investigate a little further.
