Hi Folks,
After a long drive South we were back in Wellington
and glad that those long drives north will no be happening for a while, it was
good to get home, thinking that we would slide back into our old routine, ie
working on the flat, for a few weeks and jogging along a a nice steady pace,
wrong ... Gail had organized the social events , football on Sunday to start
with , it was great to go and see our local team beat the Ozzie side, be it a
penalty shoot out and a realnail bitter, but these boyz put England to shame as
the tucked the goals away "neat as"
it was a refreashing sight after looking at my old
clubsPortsmouths trials of woe, it made depressing reading for me this
week.
We have been back and forth to the boat a few times
taking gear off, mainly more unwanted stuff, it amazed me the amount of gear we
were still finding tucked away in nooks and cranies that we didnt even know we
had !
Also this week I final got the software clitches
out of my skype so I am noe avalible to speak and have vidio as well, I hope it
lasts longer than one call...
My weekly trips have begun again to the Coast
guard, with the arrival of the new vessel the first training sesion was packed
with a lot of people most of whom I have never met, I wonder if that will keep
up for long once summer ends and the cold windy weekends arrive, although it
seems whilst we have been basking in the sun up north thw summer down in
Wellington has been awful so forks back in the old country dont feel to seen off
, after our coldest winter on record last year, which dosnt compare with the UK
I am wondering what a mild one will be like !
Another bonus I suppose is that there is no water
shortages down here with record levels inthe lakes for this time of year, up
north its a drought, and with no rain in sight for at least another two months
the water tankers will be busy, we certainly didnt have many days of rain when
we were up there, most people have large storage tanks in there gardens,
some 20.000 litres, the water being gathered from the roof guttering
systems, this is the norm for most houses outside the city areas, the winter
rain fall normal sees them through the summer months but this year has been
different, that coupled with a large ses pit is the norm, at the moment there is
a drive to get more houses generating there power, either by wind or solar,
linking it to the grid , this is seen as the way forward, linked with wind and
Geo-thermal power generation, they would rather sell the coal to the japs, but
these systems are embrionic and the smart power managment systems expensive at
the moment I am certainly looking at the solar water heating and power
generation for the new house.
Anyway thats letter from down under over for
another week ....
