Hi Folks,
Alongside at 1700 after a big push up the Cook
Straight, the added impedes is the impending southerly due tomorrow, we don't
mind running with it but its defiantly a no no head on, the plans to check out
the sounds have been put on hold till another day as if we had entered the
sounds and the blow comes through we are stuck until it moderates , not due
until sometime next week, our trusted crew have to be at there desks on
Monday.
As soon as we were alongside we put up the cockpit
covers and went off to check out the ablutions block, large showers, no water
shortages and plenty of hot water, after sluicing ourselves we returned to Zeph,
had a beer , some nibbles, then a large dish of lamb shanks in red wine / veggie
sauce , this had been bubbling away for at least six hrs and went down a real
treat , another of Cpt Fluffy / Cougar , a renaming of the ships ghostly
figurine , by Sonja who's witty analysis of the situation produced Lyns new non
deplume ... Cptn Cougar , apparantly a predator of young males
.....
We didn't last till nine o/c as the warm food and
beer took its toll, we were all in our scratches and sound oh .
The next day we gave Zeph a good wash and brush up,
lots of salty deposits removed we packed our bags and left for home, with her
being now only just down the road the list of things to do should be quickly
struck off ..
That evening at home we soughed our travel
plans out to return North to the bay to collect our car we left behind, we have
opted for the train, called the overlander, its a 69 $ trip north to Auckland
then a coach to Opua, the train fair is the equivalent of a trip from Cornwall
to Aberdeen all for the princely sum of about 32 pounds sterling ... bet Richard
cant do a deal like that on his train set !
I think I might take the sat phone and GPS and
relay our position , it will make a change seeing it moving overland instead of
the blue stuff !
