Galley Poo Poo
Whilst munching on some freshly made bread in the
cockpit I asked what was for 3 o/c ers , Rob looked down and said "just bread"
no fruit cake I replied , no says Rob. The last of the raisins had been
used; I suggested to the head chef that I use a dough mix and lace it with tined
peaches or some other tin of fruit from the bilge , I had been reading an
old Fanny Cradock cook book and found that she had done some amazing things with
fruit ! Johnny who was always on the end of Fannys sharp whit and ocasionaly
a damp cloth around the ear would have approved of my ad-hock galley
methods , its only by experimentation that you become a great Ti Tocke, anyway
the poo pooing I got was quite out of order , I was told that using bread
mix would not work and that I was on a hiding to nothing , consulting Cradock's
book I found that it is possible to bake a great fruity little number and as
Johnny would say " I hope all your cakes turn out like Fanny's" an
unfortunate choice of words, its not an urban myth just look at the old TV
clips.. and for our American readers its not a bum
wrap, please consult the Oxford Dictionary for a fuller description.
And now over to "Innocent" Rob ..( Still waiting
for judgment again) ..
Speaking of unfortunate things, Ruth had an email
from a friend of hers. Teresa or Tess to her friends. Anyway she has
up and got her self hitched to some guy called Mr. Tickle. Get
it?
Chief chef Lyn is on duty today, making light of
our rolling condition she is busy producing some brill smells from the galley,
and I have seem her peeking in a patisserie cook book. So we are all
looking forward to lunch wondering what goodies she will serve up
today. A lot of the day to day interest revolves around what's for
eats, as not much else changes. Luckily the food stocks are holding out
well even with no fish getting caught, and there's always a tin of something to
find down in the bilges. Lunch will be a bit later today as we are putting
out clocks back another hour. This will put us nine hours after GMT (UT)
or 10 hours behind current UK time. Still we'll jump ahead of you
guys by a day once we cross the date line. Chris's
competitiveness is getting contagious!
We all had an early morning start today, when we
heard a loud bang from up forward. Having heard from Ike last
night that a couple sailing on a small catamaran that we know had hit
something damaging her hull, and was now up on the beach in the Marquises for
repair, we where fearing the worst. However
it was only a snap shackle that had sprung open and allowed our small head sail
to come lose. We soon had it down and strapped to the guard rails, and
were on our way. We look quite racy with sails strapped down to the guard
rails. Anyway we are currently on track to reach land Sunday morning I.E.
day 21 and I need to get in after 12 noon which will then be day 22 my ETA
estimate. Now that Ruth and Chris have wheedled my ETA from me; the finger
of suspicion is once again pointing at me! for having sabotaged the shackle in
order to slow us down a little. I think Chris is just looking for an
excuse to use his tazer. I didn't do nothing, honest guv. It was the
wind. I best stop now before I say anything that may be misconstrued as an
admission.
Innocent Rob.
