Hi Folk,
Yes it's the bi-monthly drival, news on the weather
is it all gone wrong again,
rain, wind(which we expect) and more rain, the
brief spring time sun seems
to have disapeared.
New on the Hobbit, it seems that funds have
been secured but there is still
a Mexican stand off on the actors, the union is
trying to force PJ's company
to accept there actors, all 200 of them,
unfortunatly none of them are below
4ft 11inches ... but a lot of kiwis are, they dont
belong to the union either
darling ! anyway it may all be shipped off to
eastern Europe to film if a
compromise is not arrived at, whilst all the CGI
will still be done here anyway,
these days most of it is filmed in a blue room
anyway.
Other news, the super city has been formed at
last, after much debate and
political skulldugary, Auckland has one entity at
last to govern the one and
a half milion people who live there, prior to this
it has small individual councils
were all pulling in diferent directions, transport
and infrastructure with no
single policy to govern it,can you imagine London
with no central
control.
It is slightly diferent here in that the
mayor of Auckland is now he second most
powerful voice in the land, as the majority of
comerce is conducted through
Auckland, and one third of the countries population
live there, so maybe the
national government have shot themselves in the
foot, a bit like devalution back
in the old country ..
Anyway apart from that and the rugby world cup
build up, most of NZ will be going
away and renting there houses out at crazy rates to
crazed rugby fans from far
flung places, dont hold your breath if you come out
as all the stadiums are small
and distances to travel are vast, meanwhile the
cleaver kiwis are collecting tickets
to sell nearer the time at vastly inflated prices
if they have any sense !
