Big Day minus Two

Hi Folks,
Well the start of this week marks the end of our
incasaration at the Colon end of the canal , it started early with a trip to the
House of Batteries to collect a new engine start battery , one of the two engine
start batteries gave up the ghost yesterday just another casualty "Equipment
Failure Fairy" entrapment , it seems to strike when least expected
..
The Rhythm crew came over last night for a meal ,
and consumption of alcohol ... plus a game of Donkey , cards that is ..an
amusing game of trust !
After a morning with the clearance agent ,,,
2 hr wait to be told he could not now do the clearance till Wed morning and that
our ropes would not be ready till then we sauntered back to Zepher , the
story I am about to tell you you may find a tad harrowing , on my return ,
Lyn Rob and Ruth related the story as follows ..
There were once two elderly Italian
bellas who visited a friends floating castle , it was a nice big floating castle
they were so taken with it that on arrival they didn't tie there dingy off
properly ... after looking round the floating castle they saw there pride
and joy floating off down the main channel of the Panama canal .. they said Oh
dear what shall we do , they jumped in the harbour and started to swim after
there dingy , as there was 15 to 20 knts of wind blowing through the harbour
there dingy was moving along at a fair pace ... 2 to 4 knts .. there swim
speed was much less as after a 300m they couldn't catch there dingy and had
become quite exhausted .. good job a large yacht was anchored on the edge of the
zone .. it was at this point that the cries for help were heard by Ruth,Lyn and
Rob , one was found hanging onto the anchor chain , the other one was floating
down tied behind the boat , Rob and Ruth jumped into our dingy and
chased after boat and swimmer / drowned .. Lyn threw a line to the anchor hanger
and hauled her aboard whilst the others rescued both boat and person ..
