Hi Folks,
Well crimbo is rumbling up fast, we havnt realy
thought about it yet and its only three weeks away, I have managed to get my
cards away be it only because the post office send you a reminder in the mail
with the dates on overseas mail .
The coast guard thing is going well with the
last module for the year completed, I wont be much use to them as Im off up
north for six weeks so wont be participating, mind you my uniform might be in by
the time I get back .
The weather hasnt been kind to us this week as it
mainly been rain ! we have forged on ahead on the internals of the bottom flat,
the new clip floor is 3/4 complete and the old lino floor which was stuck down
has finaly been raised by Lyn hard work and sheer bloody mindedness, much
sharpening of large chisels was required.
Today though the rain stopped and we got out
on the scafold again, completed the stripping of the last bits of pain on the
lounge bay weather board, hoping the weather holds off for a few days as thats
what it will take to complete the external paint work. and some repairs that
need to be done, uncovered today, just as I thought all the weatherboard
replacement work was complete .
We are hoping that Summer does arrive soon as
we are off to the vinyard concert, B 52's and the Proclamers, we are all off to
a country farmhouse for the weekend, huge spar pool, and lots of bubbly
that the ticket, and hopfully the rain wont apper to dampen the first of the
festive frollicks .
Our summer here officialy started on the 1st
of Dec, this time last year we were drenched in sun which kept up the whole
summer, this year we are off to a bad start as we havnt event taken off the
electric blankets yet !
On the politics front they are having a brain
storming sesion on how to make the tax system farer, one idea mooted was to
scrap the exsisting system, scrap all benifits, pay every person over eighteen
in NZ ten K each, and start the tax a 25% once you have erned 40K , sounds like
a good idea but Idot think the civil servents will be too pleased as they will
be getting ride of the social service paymets deptment, that saves the 19 milion
that will be needed to pay all those over 18, good ideaI think but cant see it
happening , watch this space .
The MP's are still under the expenses cosh as
the table issued every month shows the biggest spenders, then the press start
probeing around, it does give the general public a good idea as to what there up
to, a few have been shamed into paying back, especial the Maouri MP who went to
Brussels to a EEC meet, couldnt be arsed to go to the meeting and went off to
Paris for a few days, I can understand it as Brussels is a dump, but to top it
all off when he got back he said he didnt give a *u*k about what the White MO
FOs thought, this has caused a national outcry for his scalp, mainly from the
pakihas,(europian) decendants , but I guess all the polanisians thought ot was
ok, that is if they could get out of their sofas.
And as there are no true Maoris left
the last dieing out in the early1900,s I do find it strange when some of
the most vocal of them are 2/3 european.
Anyway we are off north to get the boat ready, then
dash back down south for crimbo on the 22nd, havnt got to big a crimbo shop list
.... thank god and Gails doing all the org for crimbo day ..
Thats all for now , from the Wellywood
