Hi Folks,
Well the big trek south continued,we
visit Basel and Jen in Napier they gave us the great Kiwi
welcome after catching up on the goss we went out to a local steak house , good
choice Bas great steak.
After spending the night in
another chalet we had a quick look round Napier town and the
famous vineyard "The Mission" didn't buy any vino as its cheaper in the
supermarket , tourist prices were high ..
We then pressed on South, the temperature
dropped as we neared Wellington, a good old blow was funnelling through the Cook
straight as we left the Kapatie coast and dropped into Wellington city, it
wasn't long before we arrived in Miramar, Gail was at home and it was great to
see her again, the house had been revamp since our last visit, looked
the mutts nuts, a lot of elbow grease had been applied, plus paint to the
front bedroom and lounge, new rugs, beds and leather suite, very nice indeed and
it was great to sink into the armchairs ..
It was all go on arrival, off to the Mexican
restaurant, and then back to get our heads down, that didn't take long as
we were all a bit tired after the long drive south, approx 900 km.
Gail had organised with her friends a weekend
in the Greytown area, they had rented a farm house NZ style, near the vineyard
were the concert was to be held.
We set off to Graytown Friday afternoon , over the
Rumatuckers hills and down onto the wine plan, a vast area of vineyards
spreading north towards Palmerstone North.
It definitely had the wow factor, we arrived at
17:00 " Beer o/c "
unloaded the van, turned on the hot tub and
looked round the 1910 farmhouse it had a great interior, Lyn and Eva were
ooing and arring for quite a while, Gail,Wolfgang and myself sat on the patio
drinking a few glasses of the amber nectar .. mmmm nice ...
The rest of the guest arrived by 20:00 and the
party got going, the large tray of nibbles was consumed along with copious
amounts of wine, Gina was in the meanwhile knocking up some super grub, the
barbie was fired up and a very large lump of steak was flopped on and left to
cook, its the largest lump of steak I have seen cooked in that way, the barbie
matched in size to, the aroma had all our mouths watering so by the time it was
all served up we were chomping lumps out of the timber table in anticipation
...
After stuffing ourselves it was off to bed
and with thoughts of the next day in mind we all slept well that night
