                | Hi Folks, Hope you liked the photos of this island, very
picturesque don't you think .  For the last few days we have been diving on
the reef entrance passages, these are not as good as the Tuamotoes but still are
very colourful, no big fish to speak of unlike other reefs , but still lots of
small aquarium type ones , plenty of colour .  The dreaded crown of thorns is rampant here ,
slowly munching the reef, the locals don't seem to be concerned though
.  The high light of the week was a
visit from the customs cutter, a knock on the door at 8:30 , very courteous
though , took all our details then searched the boat half hartedly , all was in
order so they went on there way after 20 mins.  One of our neighbours was not so luck , he
was hauled off , but returned later, the rumour mongers have been at work in
this small floating community but to date nothing has come to light about why
.  A few boats have turned up who we have
seen along our travels so ever one exchanges stories about there experience on
the dock or when passing to go to the dock .  Lyn,Ruth and Rob have been having a laugh at
me as its the first time anywhere that we have been the nearest boat to the
jetty, usually I anchor away from the pack as these guys get to close for a good
night sleep usually , it just happens that the deep water is nearest the dock
and the shallows, 40ft are slightly further away.  Another event was Dan's birthday , he
has reached the grand old age of 18 , he is the son of Ike and Becky on Rhythm,
and we have seen him spring up from 4 ft nothing to a 5 ft 10" or so in the last
five years , we all went over to Rhythm last night to celebrate, Dan has been
doing his diving certification with Ike for the last week or so and is nearly
through the course now. Becky made a superb meal, and we took over a
choc cake and some home made ice cream, which we discovered in the supermarket
here, its made with water and comes from NZ and taste like the real thing , plus
the bonus is you can carry it packed form and make it when you like
! A stuffed crew ... OR SO TEENAGER IN THE LAST
