Hi Folks,

Sorry the blog has been neglected but its been a busy month, with the top flat completed and the bottom one well on the way, weather improving the external painting works have started.
It a strange way to a pomes but it common sense really , to gain access to the house externals they build stud bolts into the house frame allowing you to fix in a portable scaffold bracket , this means that instead of scaffolding all around your house you just get your scaffold board hangers out of the garage and put them up , then put your planks on and away you go with your painting, I guess its not done in UK as most houses are brick so there's no need, here were most houses are timber its a must as painting your weather boards is a ten yearly occurrence and a chance for a change of colour, I will post picks of Lyn in the sky on the next blog .
However the scaffold planks and the way they fix them leaves a lot to be desired and can be a bit wobbly to say the least 4 metres up from the ground .. I have built a sturdy light weight platform that stiffens up the hanging frames this modification works well and stops the whole thing swaying in the wind !

Another task has been the culling of the garden, the giant NZ flax and the abundance of the green stuff has been the greatest challenge a chainsaw, a grubber and brut force has cut it down to a managble level, the one thing we really need is a mulcher as the pile of green stuff is a couple of skips full at least, but Lyn is quietly nibbling away at the pile and cutting it into waste bags for transportation to the dump , the local birds have been perched on her shoulder an grub watch, there biggies here and are having a great feast on what has been uncovered .

Also this month we attended Auntie Bevs funeral, she died of cancer at the age of 58 , she had been in remission but it broke out again after a year and once diagnosed it took about two months, her husband Brent was a diamond and took her all over New Zealand during that time, we will always remember her as the first place we visited on arrival here eleven years ago on our first visit, famous in Taupo for her "cream tea" and great personality, warmth and the exponent of the great Kiwi hospitality.

Tats all for now
