Day Two
27/05/08
Hi Folks,
After a good run yesterday of 132nm we were struck
by the cursed swell with no wind , rock and roll all night long only problem it
wasn't on shore in the pub , we pulled main sail down and motored from 12
hrs to find some wind further south , at first light we rigged the spinnaker
pole and set the gennicker , the wind has built slowly and we are now back up to
4.5 knots in the right direction .
Life onboard has settled into its familiar
pattern , book reading for Chris in-between a twitch to the sails and chart
table , Lyn has been mother today so she is galley bound , Ruth is onto the
French book getting ready for the Marquises , and Rob is ploughing through
the history of the Panama Canal, its a long read , but interesting now that
we have been .
Ike has progressed to within 1400nm of the
Marquises and he is 17 days out of Galapagos our ssb seems to be
working well at this range as we transfer messages from em to him when we have
our daily conflab in the evening, light winds have hampered progress but his
fishing has been good , seven fish so far this trip , on hearing this our
intrepid fisher persons threw there tackle out the back toot sweet , hoping for
a catch of some white fish soon !
