Left Rodney Bay, St Lucia on Friday 12th April to sail across to Fort de France on Martinique. A distance of 35 miles. We sailed in the company of “Spray” – Ian and Gerry and their friends Barry and Jennifer and Bill. The sail across was a bit bouncy until we got into the lee of Martinique, when the sea was much smoother and made for a nicer sail.  We anchored at Fort de France near the fort and went into town to check in.  This is a quicker process than some other islands.  There is a computer in the chandlers where you fill in the form, print it off and the man in the shop stamps and signs it.  As we were only staying a couple of days it also covered checking out.  All very simple and straight forward.  We spent 2 nights in Fort de France and then sailed up the east coast to St Pierre for the night before leaving for Dominica.
