Daily logged run: 138 miles

Last night the wind failed to fill the sails and we had to rely on our engine to help propel us across the Gulf of Carpentaria, but today the wind has picked up from the South giving us a beam reach at 6.5knots. The sun is out in full strength and whereas in Mackay it had felt definitely chilly, here, some 700 miles further north, the temperature is a pleasant 28C.

Julia has applied new whippings to the pole lines and has also mended the fraying line of the water-towed generator. We have towed the generator for thousands of miles, never realising it did not produce any electricity, but now that it does, it is beginning to fray round the edges! It is such a powerful source of electricity, that we have emailed a rigger in Darwin to ask for two spare towing lines to be made up.
