Having spent four nights in the Atlantida Hotel in Santa Cruz, I was pleased to get on board last Friday when the yard re-launched Luna Quest. She had undergone a number of maintenance works, so that I was able to concentrate on a variety of small jobs.

Today is Wednesday, 14.1.13 and all jobs on the list have been completed. Maggie helped me with the provisioning and getting El Corte Inglés to vacuum pack some the meat. I have even been able to sort out my on-board wifi connectivity, a constant source of frustration if things are not working properly. The weather has been kind, a few showers now and then, but the temperature is around 20C. My aim is to send an email a day to my BLOG to update my position and let you know how I am getting on.

The owner of Kahurangi, a famous 62-ft classic racer from the 1950s, invited me to join him for a sail on Sunday. The sun was out and a gentle breeze enabled us whilst sailing to feast on Spanish delicacies and a Russian salad. I hope to have such fine weather going across the Atlantic and having checked the weather forecast, I don't think I could wish for a better start.
