In anticipation of stronger winds, we reefed the sails last night. The mainsail was down to its smallest size and the genoa to about half its size. Everything was ship shaped. The increase in wind strength duly came around midnight, but only to about 20 knots. Throughout the night it stayed around 20 knots and a further increase is expected later today to around 25 knots. The sea has got up a bit, but Luna Quest has seen a lot more in her life to date. The majority of the fleet are further south and west and winds of 30 knots are experienced, but it seems that the low pressure area is losing its strength. The fleet’s target is still Niue, but as we are so far behind, we may now head straight for Tonga, about 10 days sailing given good winds.
