Daily Run: 31 miles
The comforts of Fort de France were but briefly enjoyed. St Lucia called and after clearing out with immigration, we set sail at 8.45am. The swell was against us rounding Martinique, whipped up by the S/E trade winds. Soon we were clear and a course could be set for Rodney Bay, St Lucia. A beautifully clear sky with 18 knots of wind on a close reach, favoured our passage under a double reefed mainsail and a couple of rolls in the genoa. I have found that Luna Quest does not need full sail to achieve a good 6 knots of speed close-hauled, but the motion of the boat is so much more pleasant. Our next stop will be Marigot Bay, south of Rodney Bay, in St Lucia.
