I took no chances on over-sleeping this morning and set the alarm;
we had been told to be at the busy laundry before 8am to ensure of a
machine. We staggered across the two other boats and up the harbour
wall ladder with our four big bags full of grubbies and loaded three
machines. There followed two and a half hours of washing, drying and
folding before breakfast. That was a good job completed and apart from
winching Simon up the mast to change a bulb we did little else all
morning while waiting to see if the ever misty skies would clear
enough for sightseeing. ‘Island Drifter’ set sail for Plymouth and
‘Sareda’ called by to thank us again for last night; all around us
people pottered; we were in limbo.
With the skies still overcast and no sight of the hilltops we
decided to go for a wander later in the afternoon to visit the tourist
office and buy paint for our artistic effort on the marina wall: A
rumour (assumingly put about by the paint shops) is going about that
bad luck follows those who don’t paint on the wall, so we are taking
no chances. Strolling round the marina we agreed we will have to
search hard for an empty space. On the way to the hardware store we
bumped into Paul and Lin also out for paint. The selection was not
great making our choice of design even harder, so we called into
Peter’s Café Sport for a beer to ease the brain strain! With no paint
we returned and printed off some lettering, flags and boxing kangaroos
which I spent hours cutting into stencils. After investing so much
time I just hope there is time to paint now.
