Although shattered last night the constant snatching of ropes and lapping waves kept us awake for much of the night. Poor Si was up adjusting lines in the night and putting up with me fidgeting and getting cross with my inability to sleep. How he survives with so little sleep is beyond me. I gave up early in the morning and got up to write several days of journal which on and off took me all day. Between writing I sorted out the safety gear, stowed the provisions, cleaned the boat and showed Ron from Zahara my fab pressure cooker. Si took the grubbies to the launderette returning with news that they were charging €8 per wash!!!!! I wouldn’t have encouraged them and offered to wash it onboard but he returned some time later with two bags of clean and dry clothes; what a treat not to have to wash them with so much to catch up on.

Our day was spent preparing for our departure to Islas Salvagem tomorrow. Our ARC get together the other day had highlighted the need for protection from cockroaches, not only in the Caribbean but in the Canaries. Chris had reported swarms of them on the pontoons and many boats being infested. We took no chances and laid our first traps in the bilges with my bag of boric acid standing by to use in food lockers later.

Hair cut and passage planning completed we ate a quick bowl of pasta before showers then I sat outside the marina office uploading the blog and catching up with emails. What a funny sight, first me then John sitting under the lamppost on the edge of the marina wall tapping away on our laptops. It will be several days before we have wifi again.
