Zip-a-di-doo-dah!

I felt a tad nervous sitting on our bus this morning at the thought of flying through the rainforest on a zip line. The journey there was most picturesque taking us through villages, cliffs with views over bays and winding roads through the rainforest. We joined the queue to be kitted out with hairnets, helmets, harnesses and the all essential thick gloves before being given instructions from a local dangling from the wire. I was glad to be near the front as looking down was making me increasingly anxious. It was good to have CJ with us as I was trying to put on a brave face and talk him and myself into a state of calm. He said he’d been on a huge zip line in France last year but it was a very different set up to this one. Feet crossed in front, left hand on the straps and right hand on the wire prepared to squeeze and brake, I departed on the first of eleven fantastic zip lines and several rope bridges through the most beautiful rainforest. Fearless after the first line I was then more able to watch streams way below tumbling over rocks, the enormous banana leaves and bamboo the size of tree trunks. Despite being under the shade of the trees it was hot and humid, and being soaked by a heavy shower was most appreciated as we chatted while queuing for the last line. Well, it was a rain forest. As with all good adventures it was over all too soon and after a welcome beer it was back to the marina.

With plans to depart Rodney Bay in the morning we spent the afternoon tidying and doing the laundry, then after dinner watched yet another film.
