Day 8 – New Ship’s Time

We moved the ship’s time back an hour last night so at 7.20am we shared the sunrise. Simon had heavy rain in the night but this morning the wind and seas have calmed leaving me with a huge rolling motion. I have developed a loud creaking from my galley woodwork which needs investigating as sleep is difficult.       Our first week at sea has gone quickly and Simon was delighted as today he could open the ‘Week two Treat Bag’! He was also delighted as conditions were good to hoist Porsche the Parasailor. Unfortunately this didn’t go as well as they’d liked coming out of the bag in a tangle. Simon put his angry head on and Lini went very quietL.  Once hoisted however I flew along for the rest of the day and was able stop some of the rolling as air spilled centrally through the slit in the sail.

Lini was busy in my galley today baking bread, date and walnut cake, a dessert and sage and raisin stuffing for tonight’s roast. We’ve all noticed how much hotter it is now, my galley stifling during the day.

They dropped the Parasailor and sailed with just a reefed main through the night which was a wise choice with increasing wind and waves. In turn they took their seats on the roller coaster for night watches.

Breakfast – Kiwi, melon, banana and yoghurt – Cereals.

Lunch – Mixed salad with bacon – Seedy flat bread.

Dinner – Stuffed loin of pork, gravy, roast potatoes, carrots and French beans. -Caramel dessert
