With Guadeloupe just a stone’s throw away to the north it would
have been so easy to neglect the island of Marie Galante, it being a
four hour sail to the east. What a surprise we would have missed.
Named after one of Christopher Columbus’ ships, this island was very
flat, very green and very different from it’s neighbours to the south.
No boat boys came rushing for our business and we picked up one of the
numerous empty mooring buoys in the huge anchorage off Saint Louis
occupied by only half a dozen boats. After a leisurely lunch we
continued the theme and abandoned our planned trip ashore until
tomorrow in favour of a quite afternoon onboard and a barbecue.
