Brindabella's Web Diary

Typical! My chance for a disgustingly long lay-in and I had early
morning visitors! I jest of course; it was delightful to have several
kiskadees sitting on the mooring lines calling for some breakfast.
These beautiful birds have brown backs, yellow fronts and badger’s
heads with a loud song that supposedly calls kiskadee, hence the name.
All I would like to say about their song is its very loud early in the
morning!
First thing today I moved the anti-chafe piping on the mooring
lines to stop the concrete rubbing through and added an old towel
round the shortest one for extra protection. I then had to pull the
boat closer to the wall to get me and my bike off. Immediately after
the wind really picked up and swung round and I decided I should stay
on board in case Brindabella was damaged by the wall. I winched us
away and moved the pipes again. Through the afternoon the waves were
so choppy we were being bounced around like a pea in a pan, so I
winched us away further and moved the pipes again. I didn’t get much
work done!
Between line adjustments I thought I might sit in the cockpit this
morning with a pot of coffee, working on my laptop while looking at
the lovely yacht club. Heavy rain made this somewhat tricky however as
just at crucial moments I would have to dash inside for cover, losing
my connection. I’ve had problems with the antennas on my laptop and
can’t get wifi inside the boat. I should really have waited for a fine
day and got on with something else off the list but I was quite
excited about having wifi at last. With all this activity it was
afternoon before I realised there had been no bleep from my mobile
with a message from Si. I eventually found my mobile in the bed with
good news of his safe arrival. He must be so excited to finally be
with CJ.
Brindabella is now a complete mess inside: While lifting the fore
bunks to find the bike bag I pulled up the mattresses to air and took
off the covers to wash. Everything is starting to feel very cold and
damp inside now the temperatures are lower. I have dug out all the
laundry and have piles ready to wash but need coins from the bank for
the machines. Amidst the clutter I spent the evening at the chart
table intending to back-up my files then sort our photos. My back-up
failed however and while checking the contents of the external hard
drive I noticed Dan and Cath’s wedding photos………………… .
