Brindabella's Web Diary

we shall have to miss. We received a message from the watermaker
servicer asking us to call in and fill in the customs forms for the
new pump ready for when it arrives. We pottered about packing up
Brindabella for sea, taking down the big sun awning and stowing away
the usual mountain of toys and equipment we seem to pull out after a
few days at anchor. After a leisurely coffee break we upped anchor and
left the super Green Island taking with us very fond memories.
It was only a short sail round the south east corner of Antigua
back to English Harbour, passing some pretty stunning rocky
shorelines. I naughtily stared through the binoculars at Eric
Clapton’s great stone mansion on the top of the hill which blended
beautifully into rocks and looked out towards the harbour. There seem
to be more boats around as Antigua Race Week and The Classics Regatta
approach. We wondered if we would find space to anchor, but low and
behold our original space was vacant and we slotted back between
almost the same boats as before.
I’d mixed some bread dough en-route so while it proved again we
defrosted the igloo then dry fried a flat bread for a late lunch. I
seem to have developed a really sore back so took the girly option of
a lie down with my book after lunch while Si played on the internet.
The beautiful Dutch classic yacht ‘Windrose’ had just arrived and Si
had lots of research to do. We are seeing more and more fantastic old
boats now as the race nears.
I had to raid the stores for dinner tonight and retrieved a
vac-packed lamb shank for Si. I drooled while eating a dollop of
tinned tuna with my mash and braised red cabbage. It smelled sooooo
gooood! I hoped Brad Pitt would take my mind off my still rumbling
tummy as we nestled down to watch ‘Troy’, another gruesome edition to
our DVD collection. It wasn’t nightmares however that kept us from our
sleep but a rattling windscoop, a very noisy killer mosquito in the
cabin buzzing in our ears and me fidgeting with back ache.
