Second day en-route to Madeira. Good first day - 157nM . Used the ParaSailor until dusk. Spent the night running under reefed mainsail, with preventor. We have been sailing in company with the Swiss yacht "Cap d'Or" all yesterday and during the night. They are still there off our port beam. Have been exchanging pleasantries with them over the VHF.

Humphrey ("Humph") the Hydrovane is steering the boat, Farty the wind generator is spinning around doing not much because of the wind angle and Fergal the fuel cell is busy producing a constant 5 amps output. Together with the 3 solar cells we are generating a net electricity surplus with just the key boat systems on (plus the fridge - after all, even a green sailor needs his beer cold and ice cubes for the G&T's!).
