Brindabella's Web Diary

Even Simon was a slug this morning and it wasn’t exactly early when
we wandered over to the marina washrooms for fabulously long, hot
showers. We called in to see a friend of Si’s in the marina before
breakfast then prepared Brindabella to head back out to sea.
Sightseeing in Plymouth is on hold for another occasion and we have
decided to head straight off for Northney only stopping if we find
ourselves at a suitable stopping place when tired or the wind
misbehaves. With the weekend just ahead we may be able to see family
before they return to work on Monday.
It was 12.30pm before we were ready and set sail in gentle breezes
on the beam in glorious sunshine along the stunning south coast.
Cricket commentary and perfect views entertained and when the tide
turned to help us on our way things couldn’t have been much better,
apart from the fishing lines off the stern producing nothing for
supper. I sat on the coach roof having an outrageously long chat with
my sister watching the land slowly becoming fuzzy in low cloud with
plummeting temperatures. By Salcombe the skies were clearing and by
Start Point it was positively toasty again.
Si grabbed a few zeds at 6pm prior to more night watches. The winds
diminished to a whisper thankfully just holding the sails full and
slowly our favourable current turned against us. Due to our late start
this morning dinner was a lot later than our usual ‘at sea routine’
and Si sat the first watch from 9pm to midnight. During this time the
wind died and Si dropped the sails.
