A year ago today I finished work for my fourteen month sabbatical.
Where did that year go? I am pleased to have persevered with my
journal in such detail for when I read back occasionally at all the
wonderful places we’ve seen it is clear why time has run away: It
always flies by faster when you’re busy and I shall never regret our
efforts to see as much as possible.
Si woke much better today; I felt worse and went back to bed with
neck pain, a colossal headache with tender eyes and a very achy body.
The weather and I were much brighter by lunch time, both sunny again.
Si in the meantime developed a very sexy, deep husky voice probably
from all that coughing. This afternoon he too managed a mega nap so we
were much better rested for the blow now due around midnight.
Our attempt to hoist sails before supper in light winds from dead
astern was doomed from the start and did little for Si’s temper. After
dinner the wind had settled a little to the SW on our starboard
quarter and we only had to put one reef in our solitary headsail
during the night when the wind increased gusting F7. From this angle
however with only moderate seas it was a surprisingly more comfortable
night than I was expecting.
