Yeehah! The sun returned. Thank you to whoever responded to
yesterday’s notice! Eager to see the island, we were at the bus stop
ready and waiting for the 11.45am around the coast: We were not
disappointed. Paul and Lin came along and we also met Dick and Pam
from ‘Aliesha’ who by coincidence have a Hallberg Rassy 36 and a home
port of Chichester. This however, they haven’t seen for some time as
they have been sailing round the world for nine years. The bus gave us
great views of the superb coastline to the left and greener than green
hills to the right, with beautiful hydrangeas lining the road ahead.
Very happy cows and goats grazed on sweet young grass and crops in
perfect rows lined gardens and fields. How lovely for Si to be able to
see it all too rather than concentrating on driving; definitely a good
plan to go by bus. An even better idea was suggested by Dick on our
return and the six of us piled into Peter’s for a late lunch. Our new
friends are all very good company and while waiting for our snacks the
beer slipped down well with tales of oceans and far away places.
Well chilled we wandered back to the boat while seriously searching
for our spot on the wall. Gathering paint and brushes we began our
artwork. The crumbly concrete soaked up a whole tin of blue for a base
coat with many pot holes and lumps still showing. First thing tomorrow
we will have to dash off for more paint if our design is to stay put
for any length of time. Unable to do any more today, I cooked dinner
finishing with sautéd pineapple with raisins that I’d soaked in rum
all day. I was suddenly very sleepy. Fresh air and alcohol- a lethal
combination.
