I woke to voices; Si was chatting to family on Skype and I quickly
made breakfast hoping I’d be able to chat to my family too. The day
was hot and sunny and no rain is forecast until later tomorrow which
was a great opportunity to go for a cycle and pick up the bread and
fruit we needed for this Bermudian bank holiday weekend. Si shot off
in Shovell to check out other anchorages; a gale is coming through
Monday and we want to be as protected as possible. I jumped straight
to my laptop and almost immediately my sister Julie skyped. Saturdays
are always best as mum usually visits and I can talk to her as well.
It was so good to catch up with them and we were able to talk for some
time today before Si arrived back with his angry head on. I didn’t
know he wanted to move the boat today and I wasn’t ready. Hearing the
anchor coming up I quickly put breakables into the sink and rushed up
to help. There were only a few boats in the massive anchorage the
other side of the harbour and once re-anchored I cleaned through the
boat and baked a cake in the absence of wifi to chat to my children
and complete my unfinished business from last night. Si prepared a
second anchor to lay later, then spent the rest of the day on his
laptop. With cooler temperatures I was able to sit in the sun and read
before dinner; we have been sheltered under the bimini for most of the
time in the Caribbean as the sun has been too hot.
