Another morning disappeared blissfully unrushed, sorting and
pottering with several coffee breaks and a visit from Phillip. I hoped
he wouldn’t mind and Si wouldn’t be cross when I asked him to look at
Si’s wrist which is getting increasingly painful. I was worried he
might have cracked it. After Doctor Phil’s kind examination my mind is
at ease now and with anti-inflammatories Si’s pain should be too. We
had lunch then went into town again; Si needed oil for an engine
service and I needed to buy fruit. We went our separate ways and I
found the supermarket, luckily bumping into John and Joice as they
were off sightseeing when we called on them yesterday. They are all
set for their next ARC leg tomorrow and we will not see them now until
we meet up in England. They keep their boat in Portsmouth so they are
very close to us.
The small supermarket was well stocked but very expensive as we’d
expected. Joice had told me to just get what I needed and stock up
further round the island which was kind advice. I gathered a few
things then met Si on a bench by the customs dock. He’d had a bit of a
hike but managed to buy some oil. We toyed with the idea of moving to
a different anchorage but in the end we read until gin o’clock then
had a barbecue for supper. The lighter evenings seem strange and I was
able to do a little sketching in daylight afterwards. The temperatures
are the biggest difference though and by bedtime I wore woolly socks
and a thick fleece top.
