We alternated cat naps when conditions were a little clearer and as dawn approached I was alert enough to send Si back for a longer sleep. The light from Cabo Finisterre was now visible behind us and wrapped in a blanket I stood on the cockpit seats leaning on the sprayhood feeling much happier now our world had expanded into a white mist.

Shortly after dawn on white seas as flat as a millpond, a massive pod of dolphins passed some way off, their dark frames silhouetted against the struggling sun and light water. With great relief we reached our waypoint off Rias Arosa. I woke Si.

We had plodded slowly along not only because of the fog, but also to arrive in good light and visibility. Although light, the sun was struggling to break through the morning mist. Turning towards the ria at a couple of knots we had tea and toasted fruit bread in no hurry now to reach our destination. We watched the birds and attempted to photograph yet another group of dolphins as they danced around us.

My excitement was greater than my fatigue as land came into view and as the sun slowly burned through, the beautiful ria was revealed. Between the changing scenery while Si avoided the rocks I dashed below for one almighty clear up and washed the cockpit which was covered in salt, crumbs and blue fluff from the blanket. I cleared the mountain of junk wed accumulated under the sprayhood. Shedding layer after layer of clothes in the now bright sunshine we entered our anchorage at Puebla del Caraminal.

We immediately ditched lifejackets for shorts, set up the bimini and had a well earned beer with lunch shaded in the cockpit. We slept all afternoon.

The damp clothes and bedding, rinsed lifejackets and lines and the rugs were now dry along the decks so after a clear up we relaxed with late afternoon tea. Si was busy playing with his toys lots of which werent working. Boys with broken toys are not happy bunnies! My lifetag had continually been set off which it now appeared was not due to me pressing the cancel button this he couldnt fix. The Watch Commander however which only worked briefly turned out to have a loose wire, so we can look forward to using that again on our next long trip.

Si couldnt get rid of his headache so I left the champagne chilling in the fridge for another day and poured a glass of wine for myself while Si stuck to softies and Panadol. We ate houmous and cruditwith our drinks under the bimini all softly lit by the oil lamp.

Puebla del Caraminal has a little harbour with perfectly painted fishing boats to one side and a couple of larger vessels on the other. A marina sits between there and the beach, all backed by shops and buildings then beautiful high hills. Lights now lit the sea front reflecting on the still water. This afternoon there were lots of explosions high in the hills, then later the same from the other side of the ria. A never ending stream of motor bikes had beeped along the coast road earlier and we wondered if it was some sort of festival. We planned a trip ashore in the dinghy tomorrow to investigate.

I cooked lamb with rosemary and mint gravy and steamed vegetables for dinner. We ate on plates, with a fork and a knife, used glasses and didnt have to hang on. Back to day hopping then! We fell into bed. ---Lini---
