I don’t believe it! Skipper’s gone walkabout, I have a golden opportunity to be a slug and surface mid-morning and there I was up and moving as the sun rose: Typical. I have no doubt that next week I shall return to my normal sleepy self. Today continued to be most peculiar. For months now we have spent the majority of our day outside, sailing, eating, reading, working, but today my only brief trip into sunlight was to bleach the chopping boards and white non-slip mats at the tap on the pontoon (Bleach eats boat pipes). The wind had backed and now a lovely breeze was wafting through the side hatches. Perfect for trashing the boat I thought and proceeded to empty all the food stores round the saloon and under the floor. As the day wore on that awful sinking feeling swept over me, you know the one – Oh how I wish I hadn’t started this. Slowly but surely however everything came back together and we now have clean and sorted stores with updated lists of what is where: The spice jars and storage containers have been filled and food with dodgy dates put by to use swiftly. I couldn’t believe how little of our stores we’ve used; fresh food has always been easy to find in one form or another. The saloon walls were washed, the upholstery vacuumed, covers replaced and table cover scrubbed. Beautiful! All I had to remember was not to turn round and look at the galley which had vanished under a heap of odds and ends! Another day I thought ………….

It wasn’t all hard work today. I finally caught up with my sister Julie on Skype and we chatted for nearly an hour catching up with family news. JSimon called me too just before he and CJ were off to the movies. J Feeling increasingly sleepy I answered some emails, but then miraculously, had a second wind and ended up sorting and cleaning galley cupboards until 2am.
