Straight after breakfast Si checked the office to see if customs were open and I popped a chocolate cake in the Remoska to cook while I had a second attempt at the dinghy lettering. Today I painstakingly painted just up to the stencil and tried only one letter first: Just as well, as even the edges had welded themselves to the stencil pulling some of the paint off with the stencil. I was not a happy bunny and my only other suggestion was to use a waterproof marker pen. Silver Bear had recently had their dinghy stolen from the marina and dinghy theft is very high throughout the Caribbean. Many of the cruising books suggest outrageous painting on the dinghy and outboard to discourage theft so we had to have a name on it some way or other. Simon had his very grumpy head on and wouldn’t even look at the test patch I drew underneath and as he stormed off to the office to check us out I decided to go ahead and draw the name on praying the pen didn’t run out half way through. By the time he returned the dinghy had a name and everything was just about stowed and ready to go.

We were able to see much more of the stunning coastline today with clear skies and no rain. I also hoped I would see the huge pod of dolphins that Si had seen on his return trip to Rodney Bay last week. They had a few very young amongst them who hadn’t quite mastered graceful dives out of the sea yet and would belly flop instead. There was no sign of them today but there were plenty of barely visible fishing pots again all strung in lines. If we weren’t careful, if one pot didn’t get our propeller the trip line between them was sure to. We arrived at our anchorage unscathed however and in perfect timing to catch the sun just before it ducked behind the headland. There were several other yachts anchored today but no sign of Liberty who we were expecting to already be here. We had missed our 5pm rendezvous on the SSB and there was nothing heard from the VHF. We hoped all was well. With an early start tomorrow we were early to bed.
