Another day in paradise then! We dived off the back of the boat, waking us from a hot sticky night. After breakfast we explored the bay in the dinghy, first into the marina which is obviously slowly expanding into the mangroves with a small dredger waiting to remove more breeding ground for fish. Superyachts lined the dock next to the new marina complex with expensive Italian clothes shops, beauty salons and coffee shops. We paused for morning coffee wondering how different the view was ten years ago and would be in ten years time.

Time then to cool off: We collected beach stuff and lunch from Brindabella then pulled the dinghy up onto the sandy peninsular, spreading our blanket under a coconut tree. What joy to swim, snorkel and see tropical fish darting around rocks. After calling in at Chateau Mygo to book a table for dinner we returned to Brindabella where sleepy crew had a quite time reading and dozing in the shady cockpit until the lowering sun announced happy hour.

I sneaked in another brief swim, then all scrubbed up we jumped into the dinghy again and set off for dinner as under the stars still more boats flocked into the anchorage. The restaurant is now being run by the third generation of Indian owners. Si and I thought it would be rude not to order ‘Grandma’s coconut curry’ which was delicious. It was a good job I didn’t order dessert as the flambéed bananas were swimming in rum which despite being burned off was still too strong for CJ. I helped out! Although cloudy today the threatening rain never came to much and the night was unbearably hot.
