Departed 9am and Saturday’s forecast was an over estimate but again it was goosewinged with plenty of tide through the codling bank, 4 knots at neeps, followed by a broad reach and finally motoring the last 6 miles to Arklow. It was our first visit to Arklow and we found the little marina very full and the long pontoon against the river wall not quite long enough as there were several yachts now permanently berthed on the ‘visitor’ pontoon.

The town has seen better days but has character. Handy place to pick up stores as an Aldi supermarket is only 200 metres from the pontoon.
