Where did the summer go? We were kept busy catching up on the house and garden jobs but we still managed some good walking and even some sailing.

First Frost at home so time to go!

We arrived back in ‘Trini’ late Monday 12th November after the plane diverted to Barbados to avoid a lightning storm of St.Lucia. We were relieved to find Moonbeam just as we had left her down below with no mould and no sign of bugs. Our deck was pretty grubby despite the cover but we set to and prepared the bottom for antifouling, applying 2 coats taking 11 expensive litres! – for some reason it does not go so far in this temperature! 90 degrees +
A change of colour scheme is being tried to get away from the white boottop which always seems to get stained.  Plenty of other fitting out jobs too! Needless to say November is equivalent to April in the UK in terms of yachts getting ready for the season, albeit the temperature is different! We catch up with cruisers we have met over the last couple of years and meet ‘new’ acquaintance's who are also engaged in fitting out; although there is a sizeable number of yachts which never seem to quite get away from Trini!
We were launched on Monday and found a pontoon berth at the Crewsinn Marina (  www.crewsinn.com  ) to allow us to finish off the other jobs and to wait for our new canvas work to be fitted. The order was given and templates taken in May but the jobs aren’t finished yet, not unusual for Trinidad as we are finding out.

Thursday saw 30 of us getting together for a Pot Luck Thanksgiving Dinner which reminded us of the great one we had in La Gomera 2 years ago!

Saturday was the visit to the local market for breakfast and picking up lots of fresh provisions.

Sunday was the local motor boat racing...we hope they drive the boats better than they drive on the road.

Next step is to head north to Grenada when the weather looks good.
