We left the Thimbles in lovely sunshine and a very light breeze from the south and we headed east past the lovely Connecticut river which we will save for September and motor-sailed gently to Fishers Island and followed the channel into West Harbour.  Only a few miles off the north shore it is a tranquil spot and the rocky bay and houses along the shore reminded us of some of the ‘softer’ bays on the NW coast of Scotland.  We anchored about 1800hrs and the following day decided to give the toerails and handrails another coat of varnish; inevitably by mid-day it had turned into a perfect sailing day!

We enjoyed the peace which was only interrupted by occasional wake from the small ferries.

36.7 Miles logged
