We motored the whole 2 miles from Waterlemon Bay westwards to Maho Bay and
picked up another compulsory National Park Mooring which at £10 a night is not
too bad.
![]() ![]() We were in for a few wet and squally (albeit warm ) days and by chance the
only empty mooring was in the most sheltered position! Adjacent to a couple of
lovely beaches and an eco-holiday resort ( www.mahobay.org ) The sea remained flat calm
in the strongest winds.
![]() ![]() As we entered the Bay I spied what appeared to be a pristine RCC burgee at
the masthead of a New Zealand yacht! This turned out to be Jim and Karin Lott
from Auckland aboard “Victoria” who had crossed the Pacific to Chile, cruised
Patagonian Channels and then cruised to the Caribbean via the Falkland Islands
and the east coast of South America! We hope to meet up with them in Scotland
next summer but they have been before in the mid-nineties! We enjoyed some good
‘visits’ and were able to swap lots of ideas and information.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I will need to get some of these New Zealand winches!

In the evening metre long fish gathered beneath ‘Moonbeam’
but you are not allowed to fish off the boat in the National Park!.The wooded
hills and palm tree lined beaches are attractive and everything is maintained
very cleanly....sanitised Caribbean but very lovely.
