Another hectic week!
Managed to have a guardwire collapse so - new guard
wires. A measuring session followed by an e mail to AYC had a new set made. The
freezer was defrosted and received its promised new layer of insulation
which should hopefully reduce power consumption.
Tuesday I caught the early morning ferry to
Tenerife and the bus to the airport for a flight back to Manchester to see Mum
and Dad--- Dad has been in hospital again. So while I was thrust back into the
cold and damp of Cheshire Lynn was busy discovering yet another supermarket and
cooking some meals for the freezer.
![]() ![]() ![]() Evenings though she was wined and dined by
various friends we have made in the marina; Eclipse,Reflections and
Betsey. Meanwhile I received our parcels from AYC, Owen Sails and ASAP ( parts
for Finnish yacht which had a breakdown ! ) and then flew back on Friday to
Tenerife with a deceptively heavy holdall!
On Saturday the new guardwires were fitted and some
varnish work rubbed down while Lynn went for a mountain walk with Terry and
Debbie from " Wings" and Kimberley.
![]() ![]() the walk started in the National Park and was easy
walking
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The walk became more difficult once we left the
park and followed the old trail.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The walkers returned with aching limbs and as it
was Debbie's birthday we went out for a very nice meal in a small restaurant in
the town.
![]() Sunday is the day the ARC leaves Las Palmas for St
Lucia and several yachts have left La Gomera too over the weekend and for the
first time there are plenty of empty berths. The wind at the moment is very
light though and it is likely that progress is slow.
Sunday was a late start due to the band that played
over loudly until 2.30am just 100 metres from "Moonbeam" but while Lynn
varnished I defrosted the fridge and improved the insulation but after some more
jobs we adjourned for a swim and later enjoyed dinner in the cockpit with our
house wine " Bateaux Moonbeam ", a fine Tempranillo at 89 cents a
time!
