Sunday
Spent the morning dedicated to boat jobs then put
the rib in the water ( we carry it on deck on 'offshore' passages) and went to
visit Cascais. Being Sunday it was particularly
busy but a very clean and pleasant town with some very attractive old buildings
and restaurants at every step.
We were invited aboard the Swedish owned Amel 'Lady
Annilla' for some wine late afternoon and then back to Moonbeam for
dinner.
Monday
The idea was to go for a walk before it became too
hot but then a Canadian yachtsman wanted some assistance and all of a sudden it
was late morning! Walked to look at the marina and further explore of the town
including a lovely forested park.
20 Dragons lined up at the 'Clube
Navale'
Museum in the Park
Tuesday
Said a final cheerio to Rene and Anneka on 'Mi
Duchi' as we left the anchorage. Flat calm and zero wind as we motored south
past Cabo Espichel and up to the anchorage of 'Portinho de Arrabida' which some
people claim is the most spectacular anchorage in Portugal. Spoilt by Scottish
anchorages it does not rate that high but it does have the temperature
advantage. The beach pedaloes incorporate a slide- I don't think they will catch
on in Oban Bay. For once the back drop is not high rise buildings and the whole
area is a National Park. The 35km long Arrabida mountain ridge is protected and
it is rich in pine, olive, pistachio , strawberry, lavender, deer and
wild boar.
