There is always something to watch in Bequia and the antics of the
“boatboys” are always amusing. They compete for the incoming yachts; offering
their moorings, lobsters, fish, ice , bread etc. They shout and scream at each
other but are always polite to the yachties. There is a “system” but we have
been unable to work out how it works!

Eventually we had to withdraw from Bequia’s clutches and we left at 0600 on
Sunday morning with a glorious close reach across the Bequia channel until
eventually the wind died in the lee of St.Vincent.

The wind was back at the North end and we had a 30 mile beat in 20 knots
but well reefed “Moonbeam” was quite comfortable and we picked up a Marine Park
mooring (www.smma.org.lc) off
Soufriere St.Lucia at 14.30 with 56 miles logged.
Approaching St.Lucia
The water here is clear and it is easy to see the seabed at the mooring in
60ft of water!
The next morning we headed up to Marigot Bay to celebrate Hogmanay at
Doolittle's Restaurant ( www.marigotbeachclub.com
) and Paul Read’s Birthday on New Year’s Day !

“Panthalassa” entering Marigot – Peter Watt from Ballachulish aboard!
A fun night with superb scallops and steak and a floor show with limbo
dancing and fire eating followed by a great fireworks display.
Moonbeam in the centre of the fireworks!
New Year’s Day was spent quietly!
