In retrospect the anchorage was very pleasant and
scenic and interesting also from a navigation point of view as the way in is
through drying sandbanks. At 08.45 we were raising the anchor when 2 officers of
the National park came in and informed us we should not be anchoring and must
leave immediately as it was prohibited to anchor there...so much for the
almanacs and pilots! I looked at the chart plotter and interrogated the
'yacht' symbol placed on the anchorage and clicked on the 'anchorage' details it
said ' anchoring prohibited'! So much for Portugal's finest anchorage! Obviously
this did not apply to the 50 or so speed boats on moorings and the 5 or 6
restaurants and bars on the beach are obviously in the spirit of the ' National
Park'!
Again no wind as we motored south but after a
couple of hours we had 6 knots true so dragged out the 'Code 0' and
sailed until the wind speed dropped below 3 knots.
