The trade winds have certainly disappeared and we left Morro Jable at 0745 and while a pleasant passage there was no wind nor any fish responding to our lures. The approach to the city is a bit off-putting when you see the docks and the urban sprawl and motoring in past enormous rusting Russian fishing vessels and waiting cargo ships at anchor remind us we are once again back in 'docklands'. In the marina we squeeze into a "bows-to" mooring and settled in to yet another international pontoon. Contrary to first impressions we enjoyed the bustle of Las Palmas and despite the 8 lanes of traffic just outside the marina pedestrians are well catered for with walkways and subways. Here we purchased a large solar panel which is now mounted on top of the davits and will help to feed amps to the fridge, freezer and autopilot.
The marina has to find space for the 250 yachts participating in the ARC (www.worldcruising.com) but we were able to stay for 5 nights. Just along the pontoon was a concrete Endurance class yacht with a young Russian family aboard and the toys and paddling pool on deck reminded us of when "Tuscair" was at Ardfern with the Grahams on board!

Only 1000 yachts in this marina.
